Roush Fenway Racing's domination of the action at Michigan International Speedway extended into Saturday's final Happy Hour practice for the 3M Performance 400 NASCAR Nextel Cup race, as Carl Edwards was again fastest, just as he was in the first practice session earlier in the day.

Edwards, who won here in June to end a 52-race winless streak, turned a best lap of 187.359 miles per hour around the 2-mile track, which bested the 186.911 mph run by Denny Hamlin in his Joe Gibbs Racing Chevrolet.

Third-fastest in Happy Hour was Clint Bowyer, who ran 186.780 mph in his Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet, followed by David Gilliland's 185.902 mph in a Yates/Newman/Haas/Lanigan Ford. Rounding out the top five was a second Roush Ford, this one belonging to Greg Biffle, who ran 185.735 mph.

The second five consisted of Dave Blaney in the fastest of the Toyotas, the Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolets of Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, and RCR teammates Jeff Burton and Kevin Harvick.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. had to have the transmission and clutch replaced in his Chevrolet during Happy Hour and as a result will start Sunday's race at the back of the field. When teammate Paul Menard pitted with a badly smoking car, there were fears that the same engine woes that ended Earnhardt's race last week at Watkins Glen International may have returned. But Menard's problems turned out to be a loose oil line, not a blown motor.

Still, Earnhardt was just 36th fastest in practice, eight spots ahead of Tony Stewart, winner of three of the last four Nextel Cup races.
