Following the final race of the 2012 eni FIM Superbike World Championship, which took place at Magny-Cours in France earlier this month, FIXI’s CEO Richard Wynn has given his views of the company’s first year as title sponsor to the Crescent Suzuki team.
“It was a big step for FIXI to make the move from one of the partners of the Crescent Suzuki World Superbike team to title sponsors, but one that we are all so happy that we decided to take. We were under no illusions that it wouldn’t be anything but difficult - there are so many established teams in the paddock – and the step-up for the team from the British championship to the world stage was a very big one. FIXI was convinced it was one they could do though and that was one of the reason we took the decision to support on a full-scale basis, and as we have seen, the guys from Crescent worked tirelessly to get the bike up to its present level. We firmly believe that the momentum will carry forward into a highly competitive 2013 and that is why FIXI has committed to remain as title sponsor for 2013 and will be very pleased for the team to carry our branding next season
"There have been some high and lows this season, but that is what we expected in our first year and to see the FIXI Crescent Suzuki in the hands of Leon Camier get on to the podium in Germany was an amazing feeling and certainly showed that the team is going in the right direction. I’m sure with the plans that are in place for 2013 they can develop on that result and we’ll see more podiums and a greater presence of the team in the paddock. The guys in the Crescent Suzuki WSBK team have been excellent representatives for the FIXI brand and we have had a great year working with them. The correlation between the high-speed and cut-and-thrust of top-class motorcycle racing ties in perfectly with the Forex industry that FIXI is involved with and having the two side-by-side has certainly worked well.
"The FIXI staff has made some interesting contacts on our travels and intend to maximize the new venues for next year. India in particular is going to be interesting, because as a developing country, there is a huge growth in participants in the Foreign Exchange markets. Hopefully we can use our presence and leverage into the local markets, this is something we have done this year in the areas we have visited and it has already opened many new leads for us.
"The Directors of FIXI would like to put on record our thanks and gratitude to Jack Valentine and John Hopkins. Both did their utmost to promote our brand. And we are sure Jack’s attention to detail and personal character will carry him on to new challenges - he has been a credit to Crescent, Suzuki and FIXI. We felt desperately sorry for John as he struggled with injuries and mechanical misfortunes, but his attitude and determination never faltered. We wish him all the best with his recuperation and look forward to seeing him back in the paddock in the future.
"Here’s to an exciting and successful 2013 and we look forward to seeing the FIXI Crescent Suzuki up there battling at the sharp end and hopefully pushing to the top-step of the podium, because the team deserve that.”
