NASCAR Sprint Cup regulars Kevin Harvick and Elliott Sadler will share a part-time ride in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this season.

The two drivers will combine for 15 starts in the Kevin Harvick Inc. No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado this season, with the driver lineup for the remaining 10 races to be announced. KHI is owned by Harvick and his wife, DeLana, and fielded the 2009 NCWTS championship entry of Ron Hornaday Jr., who will also race for the team this season.

The deal is somewhat unusual in that Sadler drives a Ford full-time for Richard Petty Motorsports in the Cup Series. Typically, manufacturer contracts preclude drivers from driving other brands of vehicles in lower NASCAR series, but Sadler and KHI were able to make it all work out.

Sadler has just three Truck Series starts in his career, the last coming in 2003. He will pilot the No. 2 team in the Feb. 12 series opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, which will be televised live on SPEED. In his three prior truck starts, he encountered mechanical difficulties each time, posting a best finish of 29th at Richmond International Raceway in 2000.

But Sadler said he’s up to the task.

“Racing in the truck series in 2010 with KHI will be a blast,” said Sadler. “It’ll be nice to jump in the truck and go out and race for wins and not have to worry about points. We’re going to kick the year off with a bang in Daytona and have some great races to run between then and the finale in Homestead.”

As for Harvick, he closed the 2009 season by earning back-to-back victories at Phoenix International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway as Hornaday won his fourth NASCAR Camping World Truck Series title and the second Truck Series Owner’s championship for KHI.

“I really enjoy being a part of the Truck Series,” said Harvick. “I feel like the combination of Doug George as crew chief and Elliott and I will bring experience and success to the team immediately.”

Sadler said he, too, is excited.

“Every track that’s on my schedule in the No. 2 truck is a place I know we can go out and win,” Sadler said. “I’ve won races at some of the tracks during my career and I know Kevin and Ron Hornaday contend for wins when they climb behind the wheel of a KHI truck. This is going to be a lot of fun.”
