Nelson Piquet Jr. led Friday’s lone practice round prior to tonight’s season-ending Ford EcoBoost 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Piquet, who has put his No. 30 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet on the pole for the last two Truck Series races, lapped the 1.5-mile Homestead oval at 167.619 miles per hour, best of the 38 trucks setting times.

Second-fast in the two-hour session was Parker Kligerman in the first of the three Red Horse Racing Toyotas, which ran 167.224 mph. Then it was Cale Gale in the No. 33 Eddie Sharp Racing Chevy at 167.074 mph. Completing the top five were Joey Coulter and Kyle Larson.

SPEED’s Truck Series coverage from Homestead includes qualifying at 4:30 p.m. ET, with NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Setup at 7:30 p.m. The race follows live on SPEED at 8 p.m.

James Buescher comes into tonight’s race with a lead of 11 points over Timothy Peters and 12 over Ty Dillon. At 29 points back, Coulter is mathematically still in the hunt, but would need a series of misfortunes to befall the leaders to get back in the race.

Buescher was a disappointing 19th in Happy Hour, while Peters and Dillon were sixth and seventh, respectively.
