Mike Skinner led Friday’s only round of practice for the Mountain Dew 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Skinner, a past series champion, lapped the 2.66-mile superspeedway at 193.232 miles per hour in his No. 5 Exide Toyota Tundra, which barely edged the lap of 193.197 mph turned by Timothy Peters in the No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota.

Third-fastest in the two-hour morning session was Aric Almirola, 192.119 mph in the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota. Completing the top five were Narian Karthikeyan’s SafeAuto Insurance/Wyler.com Chevrolet Silverado and Austin Dillon in the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevy.

The second five was David Starr, Kyle Busch, Todd Bodine, Ryan Sieg and Max Papis.

Qualifying for the Mountain Dew 250 takes place at 4:30 p.m. ET and will be televised live on SPEED, as will Saturday’s race. Coverage of the race begins Saturday at 3 p.m. with the “NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Setup.”

Saturday’s race will be the 22nd of 25 on the 2010 NCWTS schedule. Bodine comes into the race with a lead of 282 points over Almirola and 370 up on Johnny Sauter. Rookie Dillon (-448) and Matt Crafton (-464) complete the top five.
