“What Off-Season?”

It's been an interesting and busy off-season thus far and it doesn’t look like it will slow down anytime soon. I think the biggest, coolest part of the off-season to this point was that I was able to spend Thanksgiving with my grandkids. I have three with another one on the way and our family gathering was really cool.

My son Dustin and his fiancée Ashlee live in Asheville, N.C., and are scheduled to have a baby boy at 8:45 a.m. ET on New Year’s Eve. Brayden Michael will be their second child (Dylan is two years old) and our fourth grandchild, so that will be an exciting time for everyone.

We’ll spend the holidays at our new home in North Carolina, but will be shuttling back and forth between North Carolina and Florida after that. Our primary residence still is in Florida, but we’re selling our big house down there and downsizing a little bit. We still have a business in Florida too, but we’re eventually going to make N.C. our home fulltime. We’ll have the majority of the business stuff up in The Tar Heel State probably by the middle to end of next year.

My big project during the off-season is building a barn. It’s going to be a place for my hot rods - sort of my “man cave” - with a pool table and a little bar in there and maybe some video games or something. We’re building a stage, too. My good friend Bob Germain and I love to play guitar. He’s pretty good; I’m not. We’re going to have a lot of fun so hopefully by this time next year, that will all be completed and we’ll throw a big hoedown for New Year’s. We used to have large New Year’s parties all the time and we’re excited to have a great place to bring back the tradition.

So that gets us through December. We’re scheduled to test in New Smyrna, Fla., during the first part of January and we’ve got a couple of NASCAR events in January, too. The fifth annual Sprint Sound and Speed takes place January 8-9 in Nashville and Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Fan Fest is set for the following weekend.

Everyone at Randy Moss Motorsports is still working hard to get all of the pieces in place for 2010. I think we’re close to being able to make some announcements, but we want to have all of our ducks in a row, so to speak, before we do that. That said, I’ll just close this by wishing everyone out there Happy Holidays on behalf of Angie, me and Randy Moss Motorsports.
