Matt Crafton led today’s first of two rounds of practice for the Kroger 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway.

Crafton, driver of the No. 88 ThorSport Racing Toyota, had a best lap of 19.780 seconds, tops among the 42 trucks setting times.

Timothy Peters was second in the No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota, followed By Nelson Piquet Jr. in the first of the Turner Motorsports Chevrolets. Crafton’s teammate, Johnny Sauter, and Ty Dillon completed the top five.

SPEED will have live coverage of the second Truck Series practice at 2 p.m. and will televise qualifying from Martinsville at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Setup is on at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by the race at 2 p.m.

With just four races left in the Truck Series season, Dillon leads James Buescher by 1 point and Peters by 26. In the spring Martinsville race, Dillon finished second and Buescher third.
