Justin Lofton stepped up in Happy Hour, putting his No. 6 Eddie Sharp Racing Chevrolet Silverado atop the speed charts for tonight’s UNOH 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Lofton, who won his first career Truck Series race earlier this year at Charlotte Motor Speedway, had the best lap of the session at 121.605 mph.

Nelson Piquet Jr., the winner last week in Michigan and leader in the opening session at the 0.533-mile oval, was second in Happy Hour in his No. 30 Turner Motorsports Chevy. Then came Brendan Gaughan in a Richard Childress Racing Chevy, Piquet’s teammate James Buescher and Gaughan’s teammate Joey Coulter.

SPEED’s coverage from Bristol starts with UNOH 200 qualifying at 5 p.m. ET. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Setup starts at 7:30 p.m., followed by the race at 8 p.m.

With 12 of 22 races in the books for 2012, Timothy Peters and Ty Dillon are tied for the Truck Series points lead. Buescher (-6) is third, followed by Lofton (-17) and Parker Kligerman (-25).

Brazilian Piquet, the second foreign-born driver to win in the series, became the 10th different winner in the season’s first 12 races, breaking a record for this point in the season. Five first-time winners are the most since 2006, when there were six. The all-time record is seven (three times).
