Johnny Sauter set the pace in Saturday’s first of two practice rounds for the Good Sam Roadside Assistance NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Rockingham Speedway.

Sauter, driver of the No. 13 Hot Honeys/Curb Records Toyota Tundra, was the fastest of the 36 trucks entered for tomorrow’s race, lapping the one-mile oval at 146.873 miles per hour.

Parker Kligerman’s lap of 146.264 mph was good enough for second in the No. 29 Draw-Tite/Mopar Ram, followed by the No. 31 Koike.com Chevrolet Silverado of James Buescher, which ran 146.086 mph. Timothy Peters was fourth in the No. 17 Strutmasters Toyota, with Joey Coulter completing the top five in the No. 22 Strutmasters/RCR Chevy.

Positions six through 10 were Ty Dillon, Ron Hornaday Jr., Matt Crafton, Jason Leffler and Todd Bodine.

SPEED will televise the Rockingham Truck Series race Sunday afternoon, starting with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Setup at 12:30 p.m. ET, followed by the race at 1 p.m. Sunday’s event will be NASCAR’s first race at the one-mile oval since 2004.

Happy Hour is from 11 a.m.-noon ET today, with qualifying set for 3:35 p.m.

With two of 22 races in the books, Daytona winner John King leads Peters and Justin Lofton by one point each, and Dillon by four points.
