Jeffrey Earnhardt has been looking forward to racing on the high banks of Talladega Superspeedway his entire life. That day has finally arrived, as the fourth generation driver will pilot the No. 6 Rick Ware Racing Chevy for the running of Saturday's Mountain Dew 250.

“I have been looking forward to this race for a long time. My family has such a rich history at Talladega and for me to finally get to race here is a dream come true,” said the grandson of the late Dale Earnhardt and son of Kerry Earnhardt.

Jeffrey Earnhardt will be making the final step in the process to be approved by NASCAR to compete at all the tracks in 2011 for his rookie campaign, but the youngster also knows that plenty of people will be watching besides NASCAR.

“This whole month I have been in Alabama, working with kids at the local schools. Firestop, one of the sponsors this week, has been working closely with me and the fire departments to teach the students about fire safety. During this time I have gained a bunch of support from the kids, and I want to run well for them,” Jeffrey said.

This weekend also marks the 10th anniversary of Dale Earnhardt’s last victory and his grandson understands the significance of such an occasion.

“It would be awesome for the family, friends and fans to celebrate this weekend with a win. I know we have a great truck that is capable of being in victory lane," he said. "We just have to race clean and smart and if everything goes well, we can all look up and smile at the end of the night.”
