James Buescher set the fast time in Friday’s final Happy Hour round of practice for the SFP 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, knocking off Ty Dillon in the dying minutes of the session.

Buescher ran a best lap of 170.713 miles per hour in his No. 31 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado, which was just enough to best the 170.654 mph lap set early on by Dillon’s No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.

“We’re definitely really happy with the Progenex Chevy,” said Buescher. “... It’s a lot of fun racing here and I’m just looking forward to it.

Third fast at 170.511 mph was Dillon’s RCR teammate, Tim George. Jason Leffler, who has had a star-crossed first season behind the wheel of the No. 18 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota, was fourth.

Then came Justin Lofton’s Eddie Sharp Racing Toyota, followed by Johnny Sauter and Miguel Paludo. Max Gresham, Joey Coulter and Cale Gale completed the top 10.

Qualifying for the SFP 250 will be televised live on SPEED at 10 a.m. ET Saturday. Race coverage will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Setup, followed by the race at 2 p.m.

Timothy Peters, who has scored top-five finishes in all three races so far this season, leads the series points, with Justin Lofton (-6) second, Dillon third (-7) and James Buescher fourth (-10).
