TRUCKS: Sadler Leads First Pocono Practice

Elliott Sadler was the fastest of 37 trucks in Friday’s first round of practice for the Pocono Mountains 125 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway.

Sadler, one of three NASCAR Sprint Cup regulars in the Truck race this weekend, wheeled the No. 2 Kevin Harvick Inc./Grand Touring Vodka Chevrolet Silverado into the top spot in the first of today’s two rounds of practice with a lap of 161.562 miles per hour.
Second-fast at 161.008 mph was Austin Dillon, driving grandfather Richard Childress' Bass Pro Shops No. 3 Chevy. He was followed by points leader Todd Bodine in the No. 30 Germain.com Toyota Tundra, 160.276 mph; Kasey Kahne’s No. 18 Toyota Dealers Tundra, 159.983 mph; and James Buescher in the No. 31 Wolf Pack Rentals Chevy, 159.761 mph.
The second five was Justin Lofton, Aric Almirola, Stacy Compton, David Starr and Ron Hornaday Jr.
The trucks will have a final Happy Hour round of practice from 5:30-7 p.m. ET today, which will be televised live on SPEED.
This race is the first for the Truck Series at the 2.5-mile, triangle-shaped Pocono track, and the qualifying procedure is new as well.
The Happy Hour times will set the order for qualifying Saturday morning: Trucks will qualify in inverse order to their Happy Hour speeds, with the slowest trucks in practice going out first in qualifying. Up to three trucks will be allowed on the track at any one time for their two qualifying laps.

SPEED will televise Saturday’s race live, starting with qualifying at 10 a.m. Race coverage on SPEED starts at 12:30 p.m. Saturday with the "NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Setup."
