Cale Gale qualified No. 1 for tonight’s UNOH 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway, earning his first career pole in 23 starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Gale, driver of the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Silverado, lapped the 0.533-mile oval at 122.560 miles per hour. Gale will start tonight’s race alongside the No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota of points leader Timothy Peters, who qualified second at 122.092 mph.
Row 2 will be Peters’ teammate, Todd Bodine, and Brad Keselowski in his own Ram truck. Ryan Blaney completed the top five in a second Keselowski-owned Ram.
The second five was led Michigan winner Nelson Piquet Jr. Then came Matt Crafton, Joey Coulter, Parker Kligerman and Johnny Sauter.
SPEED’s race coverage begins with The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Setup starts at 7:30 p.m., followed by the race at 8 p.m.
Jennifer Jo Cobb, Clay Greenfield, Grant Enfinger and Brandon Knupp all failed to qualify.
The points race is a dead heat after 12 races as, Timothy Peters and Ty Dillon are tied for the Truck Series points lead. James Buescher (-6) is third, followed by Lofton (-17) and Parker Kligerman (-25).
So far this season, 10 different drivers have won races, including five first-time series winners.
