Rookie Ryan Blaney continues to impress, as he led Friday night’s lone round of practice for the American Ethanol 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Iowa Speedway.

Blaney, making only his third start behind the wheel of Brad Keselowski’s No. 29 Ram pickup, was the fastest truck in the session, lapping the five-eighths-mile Iowa track at 137.135 miles per hour.

In his first two starts with Keselowski, Blaney finished sixth at Bristol and 11th at Atlanta, finishing on the lead lap in both races.

Second-fast in the Iowa practice was the No. 22 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet of Joey Coulter, who had a best lap of 136.707 mph.

Parker Kligerman ran 135.747 mph in his No. 7 Red Horse Toyota, putting him third.

Johnny Sauter was fourth in the first of the two ThorSport Racing Toyotas, followed by Drew Herring in the No. 18 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota.

Cale Gale was sixth, followed by Matt Crafton, James Buescher, Justin Lofton and Jeff Choquette.

There will be a second Happy Hour round of practice tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m. ET.

SPEED’s television coverage from Iowa begins Saturday with qualifying at 6:30 p.m. ET. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Setup comes next at 7:30 p.m., with race coverage at 8 p.m.

With 14 of 22 Truck Series races in the books, Timothy Peters holds a 6-point lead over Buescher. Ty Dillon (-9) is next, followed by Kligerman (-21) and Lofton (-31).
