SPEED™ TABS NICKY MORSE FOR NEW MONDAY NIGHT NASCAR SERIES, THE RACING CHEF

MORSE: ‘I’VE NEVER WALKED THROUGH AN INFIELD OR CAMPGROUND WHERE SOMEONE DOESN’T INVITE YOU IN’

Nicky Morse will headline a new 30-minute weekly series on SPEED entitled The Racing Chef, scheduled to premiere March 1 at 9 p.m. ET.

“NASCAR fans come together every week and they often don’t agree on much,” said SPEED SVP of Programming Steve Craddock. “They argue about their favorite drivers, their favorite tracks and their favorite makes and models of cars, but whatever they are discussing, great food is usually nearby. The Racing Chef will explore and celebrate unique food experiences at or around the race track … from fans tailgating in the infield to drivers dining at their team haulers to checking out the most popular local cuisine, Nicky will bring fans a true taste of NASCAR.”

Morse, who spent the last several years preparing meals for Team Jegs on the NHRA drag racing circuit, joins a celebrated list of television chefs -- from Julia Child to Guy Fieri -- and the Ohio resident believes he is up to the challenge.

“In the NHRA, the fans are dedicated,” said Morse, who was taping segments for The Racing Chef last week in Daytona Beach. “They have an incredible fan base … but I came to the NASCAR race in Charlotte in October and ‘Holy Cow!’ It’s the same intensity, but multiplied. There are so many more people interested in what is going on at the track.”

The Racing Chef will visit with NASCAR drivers along the circuit, giving fans a glimpse of what their favorite drivers like to eat.

“In Daytona, Nicky prepared a fantastic meal with racer Marcos Ambrose, who had flown in fresh salmon from Tazmania,” Craddock said. “Nicky honed his craft in four-star restaurants, private clubs and hotels, but this guy is quickly learning his way around the NASCAR race track.”

Morse, who began his career specializing in French cuisine, loves race fans who take pride in their infield food preparation.

“They are very, very dedicated and they are very competitive,” Morse said. “Somebody is going to cook 100 pounds of crawfish at their boil, so the next person wants to cook 200 pounds and some shrimp … they are very competitive, but they are very generous. I’ve never walked through the infield or campground where someone doesn’t invite you in with a ‘Hey, c’mon in and have a bite.’ ”

Morse will share some of his favorite recipes with fans through SPEEDtv.com.
