SPEED™ AND NASCAR PRODUCTIONS CHRONICLE BOWYER’S WIN AT CHARLOTTE AND TEAM’S CHASE BID IN ONE-HOUR SPECIAL WEDNESDAY AT 7 P.M. ET

Fresh off of Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup contender Clint Bowyer’s win Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, SPEED continues to offer unprecedented access behind-the-scenes at Michael Waltrip Racing with a one-hour special titled Inside Michael Waltrip Racing: A Championship Quest Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.

Michael Waltrip Racing is amidst its first year in the Chase with drivers Bowyer and Martin Truex Jr. SPEED has chronicled the inner workings of MWR’s quest to win the championship with two teams since Richmond, the final race of NASCAR’s “regular season” last month and site of Bowyer’s win, in a 10-week programming blitz consisting of segments on NASCAR Race Hub and NASCAR RaceDay. NASCAR Productions cameras have followed the organization in the shop, in meetings, at the track and throughout each race, capturing the raw emotion and teamwork in its pursuit of the Sprint Cup championship.

Wednesday’s SPEED special includes an all-access, behind-the-scenes look at Bowyer’s win Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, his third victory of the 2012 season and first in the Chase, as well as the team’s preparations for next Sunday’s race at Kansas Speedway, Bowyer’s home track.

“We really appreciate the access Michael and his entire organization are giving to SPEED viewers,” said network President Scott Ackerson. “Performing under the intense, 10-race pressure of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup is one thing … doing it with cameras following your every move is another. MWR is giving NASCAR fans an honest look at what it takes to race for a championship.”

Last weekend was a good one for MWR, which scored a 10th-place finish with Truex Jr. and a sixth-place finish with driver Mark Martin. With five races remaining in the Chase, Bowyer and the No. 15 5-Hour Energy Toyota sit fourth in points (seven points behind leader Brad Keselowski) and Truex Jr. and the No.56 NAPA Know How Toyota are seventh (-49). MWR also fields Toyotas for drivers Brian Vickers and Waltrip. For more information on the team, please visit http://www.michaelwaltripracing.com/.
