“That’s just flagrant. That’s flagrant. They throw people out of basketball games for that. It’s called a ‘T.’ ‘Go to the locker room.’” - Kyle Petty (Image: SPEED)
Kyle Petty: "But, that’s the nature of the global industry and I think when you look at this, you have to look and you have to say, would Dale like this? Hell no, he wouldn’t like this, let’s be honest about it people. He would be standing on his head if he thought they were in this position, but I don't think he would ever let the team get to the point so let’s take that off the table. I think here are two teams who have to survive just like Randy says, this is about survival. When we look at it, there are going to be a lot of people who lose their jobs but at the same time you have to look at it like a pruning of a tree. You have to make the tree healthy again. This tree has to be able to start over, and it just so happens that these two people, where they are now with the Ganassi team and the DEI team, they have a great driver with Aric Almorola. You've got Juan Pablo who has come along and shown great promise. You've got Truex who has won races and done good, so they have the baseline from a driver’s lineup to be able to do something. Who their fourth driver is or what they do, God only knows what they are going to do there. They are going to be able to pick and choose the best players from Ganassi Gand from DEI. They will come out of this a stronger organization because I think they have the finances behind those three teams solid enough that they will be. Their point is to climb back to be a major factor in the sport, to be a Roush, to be a Hendrick, to be that type of organization. They have to get back there, and they feel like they can do it together, I truly believe they can do it together."
John Roberts: "Chip has done it before."
Randy Pemberton: "It is ebb and flow here. I mean right now we have a few teams that are juggernauts in this sport. We have seen domination before, but right now you have got Hendrick Motorsports. You look at Hendrick. Gibbs Racing early on and you look at the wins that are left for the other teams on the table. It is less than a dozen, and that doesn’t leave a lot at 36 races and I think it is ebb and flow and it goes along with the economy and all that kind of thing. I mean, Jimmie Johnson has it going right now. Jeff Gordon had it going for a while; Richard Petty had it going and one point in time. It will turn around, but I would like to see more balance and see other guys be able to run up front, to run in the top ten and get some exposure. It is going to take a whole different set of guys getting up front to change this whole thing right now."
John Roberts: "It will take a lot of work on those guys back at the shop as they retool these teams and try to make them competitive once again."
