Action sports star Travis Pastrana was the surprising leader of Friday's lone Nationwide Series practice at Richmond International Raceway.
Pastrana, who has eight Nationwide Series starts under his belt, finished 22nd earlier this year at Richmond in his Nationwide debut.
This weekend, he is making his first and only scheduled start in the No. 60 Ford Fusion out of Roush Fenway Racing.
Pastrana's lap of 122.856 mph on Friday was good enough to beat out reigning series champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (122.789) for the session's top speed. Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and Brian Scott completed the top five.
Qualifying for tonight's Virginia 529 College Savings 250 is scheduled to begin at 4:05 p.m. ET.
