With another non-companion event this weekend for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s JR Motorsports is taking another look at two young drivers.

Josh Wise will be back in the No. 7 JRM car at Iowa Speedway, while Steve Arpin will be in the No. 88 car. Both drivers are considered candidates for a full-time ride with the No. 88 team next year.

JR Motorsports and the No. 88 car won last year at Iowa with Brad Keselowski behind the wheel.

“Iowa is a track I raced on in ARCA,” Arpin said. “But driving the Nationwide car there will be a new experience for me. … As the defending race winners, this team will have some pressure on us. We’re definitely up to the challenge, though.”

Arpin has competed in six events this year for JRM, while Wise has been in four races.

“This will be my first trip out there, so I’ve been busy this week watching past race footage and using my racing simulator to get adapted,” Wise said. “The month of July has been busy for everyone at JRM. Driving in three consecutive races this month has meant a lot to me. … I’m at the shop a lot, and I see all the effort [crew chief] Tony [Eury] Jr. and all the guys put in these race cars.

“I think anything short of a top-10 this week will be disappointing for everyone. We know what this team can do and where we need to be running. Hopefully all goes well this weekend, and we grab another deserving finish for this No. 7 team.”

Wise finished 16th last week at O’Reilly Raceway Park and has one top-10 finish for the No. 7 team.
