Ryan Truex is not expected to miss a Nationwide Series race after having surgery to his right wrist Tuesday.

The 19-year-old Pastrana-Waltrip Racing driver apparently broke his wrist about two years ago, his brother, Martin, said Tuesday.

“He … didn’t know it was broke, and it started bothering him here lately,” said Martin Truex Jr., who co-owned the car Ryan drove to back-to-back K&N Pro Series East titles. “He got it checked out. They said, ‘It ought to hurt, it’s broke in two pieces.’

“He just had corrective surgery. They’ve been working with NASCAR and everything on what kind of cast he needs to put on it and all that stuff so he can drive. We’ve seen people drive with casts bigger than his before, so he’ll be good to go.”

Ryan Truex has had finishes from 14th to 20th in the last four Nationwide events and is 15th in the series standings. He is expected to drive the majority of the races for the team this year as he shares the seat with team co-owner Travis Pastrana, who is scheduled to compete in seven.

Car owner Michael Waltrip drove the season-opening Nationwide race at Daytona.
