In racin’ news today:

According to an article published in www.nnsracing.com, Richard Childress said he has decided to pull out of the Nationwide Series.

Childress told the website on Saturday at Iowa Speedway, site of today’s NNS race, that he would continue to field two trucks in the Camping World Series for his grandsons – Austin Dillon and Ty Dillon.

RCR has been fielding Nationwide cars since 2000. It has won the series championship three times – once with Clint Bowyer (2008) and twice with Kevin Harvick (2003 and 2007).

Elliott Sadler won the pole for Saturday afternoon’s Camping World Truck Series race by posting the fastest lap in Saturday morning’s multi-truck qualifying session. He had a fast lap at 162.602 mph.

Second was Kasey Kahne, who is driving a truck this weekend owned by Kyle Busch. His lap was at 161.917 mph.

Denny Hamlin was third fastest and followed by rookie Austin Dillon and Aric Almirola.

Points leader Todd Bodine was sixth and defending series champion Ron Hornaday Jr. was eighth.
