Kevin Harvick got out of his Nationwide Series car at Auto Club Speedway and saw Kyle Busch celebrating a victory in the Royal Purple 300 on Saturday.

“There’s nothing worse than seeing [him] pulling into victory lane,” he said.

Was Harvick angry at something during the race?

Nah, Harvick was just a little jealous.

Busch has won three of the last four Nationwide races and has a Camping World Truck Series win as well. Harvick is winless in both series and now, he is just tired of watching Busch win.

“He’s just been winning so much,” Harvick said later. “It’s our responsibility as other drivers and teams to get the performance up and win some races so it doesn’t get boring with him winning all the races.”

Harvick and Carl Edwards had the dominant cars of the race but they took four tires on a late pit stop while Busch took two tires and ended up winning. Edwards was second and Harvick was third.

In 38 career starts among the three national series at the track, Harvick has not been able to win. He has four seconds and five thirds.

“We’ve finished second and third here more times than any race track by far,” said Harvick, who grew up in California. “It’s one of those things.”

For Harvick, the third-place finish matched his best of the season and his Kevin Harvick Inc. teammate Elliott Sadler finished fifth, also a best for the year as it was his first top-10 finish.

Harvick had shuffled a number of crew members to try to get the performance where he wanted. He said he moved nine people around at KHI and “shuffled four out” as his organization searched for optimal performance.

“We got a lot better today, and that’s what we needed,” said Harvick, whose organization won the season-opening race with Tony Stewart. “Just leading laps and running up front is what we want to do. Las Vegas was terrible. Phoenix wasn’t great [even though we were third]. Today, we were at least in the game.”
