It was all Joe Gibbs Racing almost all of the time in Friday night’s Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.

JGR driver Joey Logano won the Dollar General 300 and teammate Kyle Busch finished second.

NATIONWIDE SERIES DRIVER POINT STANDINGS

Between them, they dominated the laps-led stat.

The victory was third of the season for Logano and gave him his 10th top-five finish.

Busch’s second-place finish gave him six-straight top-two finishes and allowed him to increase his Nationwide points lead from 172 to 192 over Carl Edwards, who finished sixth.

“Great points night,” Busch said. “We led a lot of laps.”

It appeared Logano and his team may have screwed up when they opted not to pit for fresh tires when a caution came out with 16 laps to go. They were leading at the time. Busch and his team were second before the caution but opted to pit for two new tires and came out for the restart in third place

NATIONWIDE SERIES RESULTS CHICAGOLAND

Busch quickly moved to second place and got to Logano’s bumper on the restart lap.

But Logano was not only able to hold Busch off over the final nine laps, but was able to pull away.

“My driver, he is on the wheel right now,” Logano’s crew chief, Dave Rogers, said. “I’m feeling like going to the bathroom to throw up right now.”

The 1-2 finish was the fourth of the year for the JGR duo.

Asked to explain how he could hold off Busch and the others who took new tires, Logano said, “Clean air was big tonight.”

Brad Keselowski, who started the race third in points, 268 behind Busch, ran into trouble about 50 laps in. He attempted to stretch a fuel run, and failed. He ran out and had to coast to the pits and then could not get the car re-fired.

He slipped back to 31st place and two laps off the pace because of the gaffe. He left Chicago 334 points out of first place.
