Keselowski won the pole Saturday morning for Saturday afternoon’s Scotts Turf Builder 300 Nationwide Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway with a speed of 124.557 miles per hour.

Minutes before his qualifying run, Keselowski completed a 40-minute meeting with NASCAR officials, Carl Edwards and team owners Jack Roush and Roger Penske. The meeting was held to discuss issues prior to and following the two drivers’ on-track incidents in a Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway two weeks ago.

The meeting ran long, causing both Keselowski and Edwards to miss their scheduled Nationwide qualifying session times. Both ran late.

Keselowski edged Joey Logano (124.476) for the pole. Kelly Bires was third at 124.371, followed by Edwards (123.921) and Greg Biffle (123.443).

The first on-track interaction between Keselowski and Edwards since the Atlanta problems will be in this afternoon’s 300-lap race.

Starting sixth through 10th this afternoon will be Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne, Reed Sorenson, Steve Wallace and Jason Leffler.

Failing to qualify for the race were Dennis Setzer, Mark Green, Scott Riggs, Jason Bowles, Brad Teague, Parker Kligerman and Chris Lawson.

Several cars spun during the qualifying session.
