Although only a part-time visitor to the Nationwide Series, Joey Logano has used it as his playground this season.
That run continued Saturday as Logano won the pole for Saturday afternoon’s Kansas Lottery 300 Nationwide race at Kansas Speedway.
Logano led an assault on the track’s Nationwide qualifying record as he ran a fast lap of 182.914 miles per hour. Twelve drivers broke Martin Truex Jr.’s old record of 178.938.
Logano has won eight Nationwide races in 18 starts this season.
Following Logano in the top five in qualifying were Austin Dillon, Brian Scott, Kenny Wallace and Paul Menard. Sixth through 10th were Kyle Busch, Elliott Sadler, Cole Whitt, Johanna Long and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
With only four races left on the Nationwide schedule, Sadler has the point lead by 13 over Stenhouse. Dillon is third, 29 points out.
The race is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. (ET) green flag.
