NNS: Gateway Has 49 Entries For Track’s Final Series Event

The final Nationwide Series race in Gateway International Raceway history likely will be Saturday afternoon, and there are 49 entries for the event at the 1.25-mile track, which is scheduled to close after this weekend.

There are five drivers who are entered to compete in both the 5-Hour Energy 250 at Gateway and the Sprint Cup Series’ Tums Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville.

Among those are series points leader Brad Keselowski (Penske Racing), Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing) and Paul Menard (Roush Fenway). Keselowski will have Parker Kligerman practicing and qualifying for him, while Edwards will have Erik Darnell and Menard will have Colin Braun.

Joe Nemechek and Michael McDowell also are on both entry lists.

Among drivers in full-time cars that have used multiple drivers this year are Willie Allen (Day Enterprises), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (Roush Fenway), Danica Patrick (JR Motorsports), Brian Scott (RAB Racing), Scott Wimmer (Braun Racing), Brad Sweet (Braun Racing), Trevor Bayne (Roush Fenway), Brad Coleman (Joe Gibbs Racing), Matt DiBenedetto (JGR), Peyton Sellers (R3 Motorsports), Drew Herring (Baker Curb Racing), Reed Sorenson (Braun Racing), Mike Bliss (Kevin Harvick Inc.), Jeff Green (Key Motorsports), Shelby Howard (ML Motorsports), Josh Wise (JR Motorsports) and Ryan Truex (Diamond-Waltrip Racing).

Several part-time teams have development drivers in their cars for this weekend’s race, including Sean Caisse (Go Green Racing), Brandon McReynolds (Team 42 Racing), Tim Schendel (Means Racing), Stephan McCurley (Stephan McCurley Racing), Tim Andrews (2nd Chance Motorsports) and Andy Ponstein (K-Automotive Motorsports).
