Kyle Busch may be a Las Vegas native, but he sure feels at home deep in the heart of Texas.

Busch won Saturday’s O’Reilly Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway, his fourth consecutive NASCAR Nationwide Series victory at the 1.5-mile track and his second victory in two series in less than 24 hours. Friday night at TMS, Busch was victorious in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race here.

For the season, Busch now has 19th race victories in NASCAR’s top three divisions, just two short of his own record that he set last year. On the afternoon, Busch led 179 of 200 laps as he drubbed the field and then some.

Busch brought his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota home comfortably ahead of Casey Mears, subbing for Jeff Burton in the No. 29 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. Then it was Jason Leffler, Matt Kenseth and Brad Keselowski.

And the victory virtually guarantees that Busch will clinch his first series championship next weekend in Phoenix. Unofficially, he now leads Carl Edwards by 272 points. Even if Edwards wins and leads the most laps next weekend in Phoenix, Busch will clinch the championship by finishing
15th or better.

Matt Kenseth started from the pole in his Roush Fenway Racing Ford Fusion, but Busch had the lead by the 11th lap. And within 25 laps, he opened up a margin of 4.030 seconds over second-place Kevin Harvick.

By Lap 50, Kasey Kahne was up to second, 5.294 seconds back, as just 18 cars were on the lead lap.

Busch’s lead was up to 10.488 seconds by the time the first caution flew for debris on Lap 62. Busch restarted on the inside when the track went green on Lap 65, with Harvick briefly taking the lead on the restart.

Michael McDowell had a flat tire and spun trying to enter pit road, bringing out caution No. 2 on Lap 68. But shortly after the green flew again, Busch retook the top spot from Harvick on Lap 71.

At the halfway point, Busch led Kahne by 3.874 seconds. Then it was Harvick, Mike Bliss, Brad Keselowski, Kenseth, Casey Mears and Jason Leffler.

On Lap 106, Morgan Shepherd and Jeremy Clements crashed on the frontstretch, bringing out another yellow and sending the field to pit road. Busch was able to hold onto the lead during his stop.
