Austin Dillon turned a fast lap of 30.03 seconds on the repaved 1.5 miles (2.4 km) tri-oval race track in Kansas City, Kansas, hitting 179.826 MPH in the first of two practice sessions for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Kansas Lottery 300..
The top five included Joey Logano (179.736) , Sam Hornish Jr., Ryan Blaney. and Justin Allgaier.
Series points leader Elliott Sadler posted the 9th fastest time while Danica Patrick posted 14th fastest.
The final practice is scheduled for 3:40pm (ET) this afternoon with qualifying set for Saturday 12:05 pm (ET).
