Morgan Shepherd, who turned 70 last October, plans to run the full NASCAR Nationwide Series season in 2012, his Faith Motorsports team announced Thursday.

Shepherd finished 21st in the standings in 2011 for his best NASCAR season since he finished 19th in the 1996 Cup standings driving for car owner Butch Mock.

He has 322 career Nationwide Series starts as well as 514 in Cup and 55 in the Truck series.

Shepherd made his Cup debut in 1970 at age 28.
