Mark Green, who is only driving a part-time NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule this year, was fastest in Friday’s lone round of prior to the Lipton 250 tonight at Richmond International Raceway.

Green put his Mary Louise Miller-owned No. 70 Chevrolet atop the Nationwide speed charts at RIR with a best lap of 124.792 miles per hour at the 0.75-mile track. Because he is racing only part-time, Green will have to qualify for tonight’s race on speed.

Second on the charts behind Green was the No. 9 Gillett Evernham Motorsports Dodge, which driver Kasey Kahne wheeled to a lap of 124.418 mph.

Then it was Mike Bliss at 124.269 mph in James Finch’s No. 1 Chevrolet in third. Rookie Landon Cassill, driving the JR Motorsports No. 5 Chevrolet owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr., was fourth fastest with a lap of 124.235 mph.

Completing the top five in Friday morning’s practice was Kyle Busch, who already has three Nationwide Series victories in the first 10 races of the season. Busch’s best lap was 123.961 mph in the Braun Racing Toyota.

Tonight’s Lipton 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race will be televised live on SPEED tonight, starting at 7:30 p.m. EST. Stayed tuned to SPEEDTV.com for complete results.
