EXCLUSIVE, PREVIOUSLY-UNAIRED SPEED™ VIDEO FROM MIDDLE OF THE PHOENIX MELEE AIRS THURSDAY ON INSIDE MICHAEL WALTRIP RACING SPECIAL

ONE-HOUR SPECIAL PREMIERES AT 7 P.M. ET WITH EXCLUSIVE FOOTAGE FROM INSIDE THE GARAGE FIGHT; PRECEDES KURT BUSCH: THE OUTLAW

SPEED cameras literally were in the middle of the melee that broke out Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway and captured exclusive, never-seen footage that will air Thursday at 7 p.m. ET on Inside Michael Waltrip Racing: A Championship Quest Part II, a one-hour special on SPEED.

SPEED cameras documenting Michael Waltrip Racing’s entire weekend from start to finish were the only ones rolling from the middle of the fight between the Nos. 15 and 24 teams Sunday in the garage after Jeff Gordon wrecked championship contender Clint Bowyer in the penultimate NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the 2012 season. Also included will be Bowyer’s day on the track, his accident with Gordon that formally ended his championship hopes and his emotional reaction afterward.

Clips and previews will air throughout the week on NASCAR Race Hub (Monday-Thursdays at 6 p.m. ET). Michael Waltrip Racing is amidst its first year in the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup with drivers Bowyer and Martin Truex Jr. SPEED has chronicled the inner workings of MWR’s quest to win the championship with two teams since Richmond, the final race of NASCAR’s “regular season” last month, in a 10-week programming blitz consisting of segments on NASCAR Race Hub and NASCAR RaceDay. NASCAR Productions cameras have followed the organization in the shop, in meetings, at the track and throughout each race, capturing the raw emotion and teamwork in its pursuit of the Sprint Cup championship. The programming initiative also included a one-hour special a few weeks ago.

SPEED follows up Thursday’s MWR special with the premiere of Kurt Busch: The Outlaw, a one-hour documentary focusing on the driver’s struggles and personal life on and off-the-track, at 8 p.m. ET. An encore of Beyond 200: The Hendrick Motorsports Story airs at 9 p.m. ET.

NASCAR Race Hub, hosted by Steve Byrnes, kicks off the evening’s NASCAR programming at 6 p.m. ET, setting the stage for NASCAR championship week at Homestead-Miami Speedway with reports from the track and previews of the championships across all three NASCAR national touring series.
