NASCAR Sprint Cup Series testing wrapped up Wednesday at Daytona International Speedway with Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry fastest in the afternoon drafting session, just as he had been in the morning.

In the afternoon session, Busch turned a fast lap of 188.830 miles per hour, as each of the four automakers placed a car in the top four. Behind Busch was the Roush Fenway Racing Ford Fusion of Matt Kenseth, who was timed at 188.494 mph.

Next came Reed Sorenson in a Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Dodge at 187.915 mph and the Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Impala SS of four-time series champion Jeff Gordon at 187.837 mph. Martin Truex, Jr. secured fifth in his Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Chevy at 187.805 mph.

Sixth was A.J. Allmendinger, followed by Casey Mears and Mark Martin. Roush Fenway teammates Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle completed the top 10.

But the star of the day was Busch, who this year is driving for a new team at JGR and new manufacturer in Toyota. "We knew that the switch was going to be good and the reason we went to Toyota was for
the purse fact that they want to go out there and compete and win races and win championships," said Busch. "So that's what we're here to do with them.

Busch applauded the performance of his fellow Toyota squads. "The biggest thing was it was nice to see the Red Bull stuff up there, Bill Davis' stuff going fast," he said. "I'm not necessarily sure if it's a lot to do with their engines or just the way that the Camry's front end is shaped or what exactly it is. For what we've got going on with our program and the Gibbs stuff, we're proud of the way we came out of the box strong."

A second wave of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams will begin their three-day test next Monday and among the drivers that will participate in the test will be Dale Earnhardt Jr., 2007 Daytona 500 winner Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman, Jeff Burton, Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin.
