Red Bull Racing’s Brian Vickers will be the first of 48 cars attempting to qualify for the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway this afternoon.

Vickers, who is 12th in the Sprint Cup points standings, will take to the track in No. 83 his Red Bull Toyota Camry, followed by David Ragan, who will pilot the No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford Fusion, the only Ford in the field with the new FR9 powerplant.

They will be followed by Denny Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Brad Keselowski.

NASCAR Sprint Cup points leader Jimmie Johnson drew a great qualifying slot, going out 33rd, while his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Mark Martin goes out seventh.

Johnson leads Martin by 108 points heading into Homestead and can clinch his record fourth consecutive Sprint Cup championship by finishing 25th or better. Jeff Gordon is third, 61 points ahead of Kurt Busch. If Gordon can hang onto third, Hendrick will become the first team in history to sweep the top three points-paying positions.
