Trackside producer Mark Smith rounded out a foursome Thursday at the famed Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale, as part of the exclusive inaugural prize experience from the Victory Lane Players Club, an interactive on-line Texas Hold ‘Em poker site launched in 2007 by NASCAR drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, Elliott Sadler, Kasey Kahne, Dale Jarrett and Jamie McMurray.

Smith joined Jarrett, celebrity poker player Roy Winston and contest winner Steve Warner on the wind-swept Arizona course, scoring a respectable 88. Smith and Sadler will show footage from the event and talk about the VLPClub on Friday night’s edition of Trackside (4 p.m. ET) on SPEED.

“The highlight of the day was DJ on the par-four 16th,” Smith said. “He drove the green from 292 yards out. I don’t think he was keeping score, but my guess is he shot in the mid-70s.”

Smith’s best hole came at the par-four No. 5, where he hit a driver to within 185 yards and then knocked it to within six feet with a hybrid before two-putting.

The sign-up process Victory Lane Players Club is simple. Fans can visit www.VLPClub.net to register, download software and start playing Texas Hold ‘Em immediately. There’s no need to be an experienced player to join; the site offers “learn to play” instructions and a FAQ section for players at every level.
