Sam Hornish Jr. brought out caution No. 3 on Lap 58 with a blown right-rear tire that left a trail of debris on the track and the teams worried that tire wear was going to be an issue again. The field all took four tires again on this round of stops, Kenseth inheriting the lead in front of Stewart, Hamlin, Kyle and Kurt Busch and Johnson. Stewart was the fastest during this round of stops, but Kenseth was already on pit road when the yellow flew, so he didn’t have to come back in again when the rest of the field pitted. That put him into the lead of the race.

But soon the JGR Toyotas of Hamlin and Busch were 1-2, Hamlin assuming the point on Lap 63.

On Lap 78, the Big One occurred on the backstretch, with Kasey Kahne tagging David Stremme, triggering a huge scrum that also involved David Reutimann, Clint Bowyer, Ryan Newman, Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Brian Vickers, Michael Waltrip, Reed Sorenson, Brad Keselowski and David Gilliland.

The field pitted on Lap 80, the halfway point of the race, with Stewart’s crew getting out in the lead for the fourth time on pit road. Behind him were Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Edwards and Johnson.

Stewart led the field back to green on Lap 83, though Hamlin quickly reassumed the point. At the Lap 100 mark, Hamlin led Stewart, Kyle Busch, Edwards, Johnson, Jeff Burton, Kurt Busch, Kenseth, Joey Logano and David Ragan.

Two laps later, Reutimann blew a right-front tire to bring out another yellow. For the fifth consecutive time, Stewart’s crew was best on put road to give the No. 14 the lead over Hamlin, Kyle and Kurt Busch and Burton. Johnson, however, had a terrible stop and came out 17th.

The green came on Lap 108, Stewart getting a good restart, but Hamlin fell back to seventh after falling out of the draft briefly.

At Lap 120, the order was Stewart, Burton, Kyle Busch, and Edwards.

One lap later, Kurt Busch and Ragan bumped on the backstretch, the No. 6 Ford sliding sideways into the infield, though he kept it off the wall.

Sprint Cup Standings

The leaders came in on Lap 124, getting enough gas to go the distance. Stewart’s crew kept their perfect record on pit road, with Edwards second, then Kyle Busch, Burton and Kenseth.
