NASCAR Sprint Cup stars Tony Stewart (Left) and Kasey Kahne (Right) will be competing in the World of Outlaws sprint car race at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
NASCAR Sprint Cup stars Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne will be among those competing in tonight’s World of Outlaws sprint car race at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The race starts at 8 p.m. ET and will be televised live on SPEED.

Asked if it helps his driving in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Stewart said, “It’s not hurting anything. Last year, when I ran Loudon (N.H., the first race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup), I ran the King’s Royal sprint car race the night before. That’s not a short flight back to Loudon. I got 2 1/2 hours of sleep.” And then Stewart won the Cup race.

Stewart raced about 25 sprint car races last year, when he won his first career World of Outlaws race at Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada, in July.

Like Stewart, Kahne loves racing sprint cars when he has the chance.

“Charlotte the dirt track can be really good or it can be really bad they have proved that over the years,” said Kahne, who will field four cars tonight. “You never know what you are going to get. When it is right it is a lot of fun to race on. Hopefully, they prepare the track nicely this time and we can put on a good show over there. But you never know what you are going to get when you go to that track.”
