They partied like it was a special night and they had extra time.

It was, and they did.

Saturday night represented a sort of triple witching hour for fans in the Talladega Superspeedway infield. It was the night before a Sprint Cup race – always a major cause for celebration on Talladega Boulevard, the “Main Street” of the Talladega infield. Plus, it was Halloween night. And, it was the end of Daylight Saving Time, which meant an extra hour of revelry for the celebrants.

Deep into the night – and on into the morning, fans turned the boulevard, the unofficial capital of bawdy frivolity every Talladega weekend, into a Halloween festival of crazy costumes, extreme adult beverages and risqué behavior.

Thousands of fans paraded along the paved boulevard, roughly parallel to the speedway’s long backstretch. Many were dressed in Halloween finery; others wore racing T-shirts and jackets.

All, it seemed, were having a grand time. Some probably would remember it the next day.

There were food, fun, beer, mixed drinks of virtually every design and Halloween decorations along a wide range that ran from cute to carnivorous.

Among the costumed visitors were a nurse, a caveman, a mafia boss and his henchmen, a Roman emperor, a pirate, a chicken, a king, two Batmans (Batmen?), the Cat in the Hat, various beauty queens (some stretching the point – and their outfits – a bit too far) and a pregnant nun.

There were signs and displays urging females to show various parts of their bodies. And various ones of them did.
