POINTS After Food City 500

RESULTS: Food City 500

[SUNDAY 4:08 pm ET]

THE WINNER — Kasey Kahne wins for the first since New Hampshire last summer, while Kyle Busch recovers to finish second ahead of Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch and Clint Bowyer.

[SUNDAY 3:52 pm ET]

JOHNSON CRASHES — Like his teammate Jeff Gordon earlier, Jimmie Johnson pops a right-front tire, hits the wall and brings out a caution on Lap 455.

[SUNDAY 3:28 pm ET]

LEADERS WRECK — Up front, Jeff Gordon is leading, when on Lap 390, he blows a right-front-tire on the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet and goes hard into the Turn 1 wall. Matt Kenseth, who was running second and about to pass Gordon, had nowhere to go and got taken out with him.

[SUNDAY 3:14 pm ET]

BAD BLOOD — On Lap 349, Joey Logano was battling Jeff Gordon for the lead, when he slipped and Denny Hamlin came up from behind, punting second-place Logano and stuffing him into the wall. Remember the Daytona 500, when Hamlin Tweeted: "@keselowski sorry I couldn't get close to you cuz your genius teammate (Logano) was too busy messing up the inside line 1 move at a time"

[SUNDAY 3:03 pm ET]

BLANEY’S BLUES — Dave Blaney was having a great day, running 15th in Tommy Baldwin’s No. 7 Chevrolet, when he blew a right-front tire and hit the wall to bring out a caution on Lap 312. That sent the field down pit road. Jeff Gordon gambled and took two tires, taking the lead over Kasey Kahne, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin.

[SUNDAY 2:40 pm ET]

RPM HURTING — Aric Almirola came into this race as one of the surprises of the year, running 10th in points after three races. But at the halfway point today — Lap 250 of 500 — Almirola loses the back end of the No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford and backs it into the wall. Caution again.

[SUNDAY 2:32 pm ET]

ANOTHER WALLBANGER — Landon Cassill lost a right-front tire on Lap 235 to bring out caution No. 5. Moments before, Kurt Busch had to pit under green because of a flat right-rear tire, which dropped him from the lead pack. Matt Kenseth takes the lead after the ensuing pit stops, followed by Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne and Kevin Harvick.

[SUNDAY 2:07 pm ET]

GILLILAND MEETS WALL— Moments after Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon pass Denny Hamlin to take over the top two spots, David Gilliland drifts into the wall to bring out another yellow. After pit stops, Hamlin goes back out in front, with Kyle Busch moving to second on the basis of a two-tire pit stop. The Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolets of Kasey Kahne, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon follow.

[SUNDAY 1:41 pm ET]

MCMURRAY CRUNCHED — On Lap 71, Jamie McMurray is running in third place, but goes around in Turn 3 to bring out another caution. Tough break as he was having a great run.

[SUNDAY 1:36 pm ET]

KYLE CAUGHT SPEEDING AGAIN — Under caution, Kyle Busch gets caught speeding in three different segments of pit road, which drops him from first to 34th.

[SUNDAY 1:31 pm ET]

BURTON BEAT UP — Jeff Burton stick his Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet into the wall after his foot jams in the throttle and he gets rammed by Carl Edwards. Marcos Ambrose also is involved. The caution sends the field down pit road. Kasey Kahne leads off pit road ahead of Denny Hamlin, Paul Menard, Jamie McMurray and Jeff Gordon.

[SUNDAY 1:16 pm ET]

SMOKE SIGNALS — Tony Stewart makes it just nine laps before a flat left-rear tire puts him into the wall, as a bad weekend for Stewart-Haas Racing quickly gets dramatically worse.

POINTS: After Las Vegas

[SUNDAY 10:25 am ET]

STRAIGHT FROM NASHVILLE – Country music star Charlie Daniels rolled into Bristol Sunday morning on his tour bus after playing at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville Saturday night. He was scheduled to play a pre-race concert and made a morning press conference appearance with Darrell Waltrip and Michael Waltrip, who announced that Daniels will be a special guest at their charity event in Franklin, TN in October. "Seeing a race at Bristol has been on my bucket list for a long time," Daniels said. "I've just never been able to fit it into my schedule. I'm happy to be here to play for the fans, but I'm really looking forward to watching the cars go around the track."

[SUNDAY 9:35 am ET]

KYLE AND KYLE – The finish of Saturday's Nationwide race, matching "older" Kyle Busch and young upstart Kyle Larson, remained a topic of conversation along pit road Sunday morning. Larson challenged Busch at the last moment as they raced for the finish line, their fenders banging as Busch won the race by about half a car length to conclude one of the best races of NASCAR 2013. The move was judged by many to be almost perfect for Larson, who stirred controversy last month at Daytona when he slammed his way to a win in a Late Model race. He said after Saturday's race he didn't want to build a reputation as being overly aggressive.

BRISTOL, RACE DAY – The jet dryers are making the rounds on a cloudy race morning at Bristol Motor Speedway, where the fourth race of the Sprint Cup season is scheduled at 1 p.m. Kyle Busch, easily the king of the mountain this weekend, will start from the pole for the 500-lap race. Race-time weather? Depends on which forecaster you ask, but, generally, there is a 40-50 percent chance of showers this afternoon. The forecast was much the same Saturday, but the Nationwide race was completed without weather interruption.
