NASCAR Sprint Cup points leader Kyle Busch’s dream season continued Saturday at Darlington Raceway, where the 23-year-old Las Vegas native captured the Dodge Challenger 500 with another dominating run in his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.
Busch rebounded from a lugnut problem on a midrace pit stop to lead nearly half the race and score his third Sprint Cup victory of the season in 11 starts. Coupled with his three victories in NASCAR Nationwide Series races and two more in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Busch now has won a total of eight races in the sanctioning body’s top three divisions.
Finishing in the runner-up spot 3.115 seconds behind Busch was the Roush Fenway Racing Ford Fusion of Carl Edwards, the only other driver in the Sprint Cup Series to win three races this season.

But the truth is, the race belonged to Busch, who has been the story of the entire NASCAR season so far, as he’s dominated the headlines with his blistering performances.
The 367-lap race started off in dramatic fashion.
Elliott Sadler got loose entering Turn 1 on Lap 3 and drifted up into Tony Stewart, the Nationwide Series race winner here Friday night, putting both cars into the wall.
“This is pretty awesome,” said Busch. “Darlington obviously showed again tonight that it’s one of the hardest places. Always has been, always will be. Even with the fresh asphalt this place is tough.”
But Sadler was merely the first of many to hit the wall. Series points leader Kyle Busch led 23 laps early, opening a lead of three seconds at one point. On Lap 40, he hit the Turn 4 wall, but managed to hold onto to second place behind Greg Biffle.
