Ryan Newman wrapped up the final pre-race activity at Bristol Motor Speedway by putting his No. 39 Stewart-Haas Chevrolet atop the speed charts during Happy Hour for tomorrow’s Food City 500.

Newman, who has just one top-five finish in 20 previous NASCAR Sprint Cup starts at the 0.533-mile BMS oval, had a fast lap of 121.883 mph, tops of the 43 cars in the last practice.

Right behind him, though, was one of Bristol’s best, Kyle Busch, who has five Cup victories here. Busch’s best lap in the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was 121.836 mph.

Brad Keselowski, who won the night race at Bristol last August, slotted in third-fast in the No. 2 Penske Racing Dodge at 121.682. David Reutimann posted an identical speed in the No. 10 Tommy Baldwin Racing Chevy, with Kasey Kahne completing the top five in the first Hendrick Motorsports Chevy.

The second five was Marcos Ambrose, Clint Bowyer, Martin Truex Jr., Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. Dale Earnhardt Jr. was 11th in the fourth and final Hendrick Chevy.
