NASCAR owner/driver Robby Gordon remains in the top 10 in the standings in his respective division of the Dakar Rally after the second stage of the road race.

Gordon finished 11th in the second stage of the event, which ran from Cordoba to La Rioja, Argentina. The 14-stage race runs through Argentina and Chile in South America this year..

Gordon is now ninth overall in the event, 12 minutes and 28 seconds behind the leader, Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah.

The stage was delayed half an hour at the start because of the weather in the area. Once it cleared, Gordon was the first Team Hummer entry to take to the course.

Gordon led at one point in the stage and then suffered a flat left-front tire, which he says was caused by a big rock on the race course.

"Only problem we had today where we lost a lot of time was a flat tire – [co-driver]Andy [Grider] and I haven’t practiced changing a tire in a while," Gordon said. "To lose 12 minutes isn’t too bad at this point and it’s all desert tomorrow so it should be good for us.” ,

The third stage, which will run from La Rioja to Fimbola, Argentina, is scheduled for Monday.
