Allstate Corp. has decided to drop its sponsorship of the Sprint Cup race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, according to a published report.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the insurance company, based in suburban Chicago, will be directing its sports marketing efforts in other areas, including the 2016 Olympics in Chicago.

The company began its sponsorship of the race – the 2009 addition of which was held last weekend – in 2005.

The race’s name was changed to reflect the sponsorship as it became known as the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.

The newspaper said the company has cutting expenses and jobs in recent months.
