Back in the day, there was no one more feared at Darlington Raceway than David Pearson, the Spartanburg, S.C., native who won 105 Cup races, including a record 10 at the 1.366-mile track.

Pearson, 73, who had most of his success driving for Wood Brothers Racing, recently toured the newly repaved track in his 1971 No. 21 Wood Brothers Mercury, along with Carl Edwards, who campaigns the No. 99 Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing. Highlights of the two on track at Darlington can be seen Saturday at 5 p.m. on SPEED’s RaceDay.

“It was great to get back out on the track at Darlington Raceway and get my 11th win here,” joked Pearson. “I have been looking forward to this day for a long time and I am honored to have been invited to this event.”

“Darlington is definitely my favorite track,” said Edwards. “A win at Darlington would be so cool because of all of the history at this track. This is a driver’s race track, you have to be on top of your game to run well here, not to mention win.”

and David Pearson at Darlington, tune in to SPEED’s RaceDay Saturday at 5 p.m.
