Dave Rogers, crew chief for Kyle Busch’s No. 18 Sprint Cup car, has been fined $25,000 by NASCAR after the car was found to have improperly placed weight during a practice session Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.

Rogers also was placed on probation until Oct. 3, as was the team’s car chief, Wesley Sherrill.

The team did not receive any point penalties.

Busch is 14th in Sprint Cup points entering Saturday’s Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

His best shot at making the Chase for the Sprint Cup field is a victory in the next three races. He currently trails Kasey Kahne and Ryan Newman in the wild-card race.

Busch finished 13th in Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400.
