SPEED™ ROLLS OUT NEW FAN-VOTE SITE FOR 5TH ANNUAL SPEED PERFORMANCE AWARDS

FAN VOTING OPENS NOV. 22; TELEVISION SPECIAL SET FOR FEBRUARY


As the SPEED Performance Awards roll into its fifth year, SPEED is updating the interactive fan-voting Web page with social media hooks and sharing functionality, along with an optimized video player that can be seen on iDevices and Android mobile devices.

“The SPEED Performance Awards continue to be a great way to capture the extreme emotions race fans go through over the course of a season,” said SPEED President Hunter Nickell. “All of the hold-your-breath, edge-of-your-seat, laugh-out-loud moments packaged together … and the fans get to pick their favorites.”

Highlighted by the prestigious panel-voted SPEED Performer of the Year and the presentation of the Mario Andretti Trophy, the SPEED Performance Awards offer nine categories for voting exclusively by viewers and race fans:

• Best Finish
• Best Move
• Biggest Comeback
• Best Rivalry
• Biggest Upset
• Biggest Hit
• Temper, Temper
• Oops Award
• RACER Magazine Rookie of the Year

Fan voting opens Nov. 22 with the television special scheduled for February.

The SPEED Performance Awards debuted in 2006, with SPEED combining on-line video elements, fan voting, SPEED expertise and support from multiple motor sports sanctioning bodies and media partners. The culminating one-hour awards show first aired in February of 2007.
