NASCAR took 16 engines from Sprint Cup teams during the Michigan International Speedway race weekend to conduct horsepower tests.

Toyotas taken were Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing engines), Reed Sorenson (Toyota Racing Development), Martin Truex Jr. (Toyota Racing Development), Marcos Ambrose (Toyota Racing Development), Joe Nemechek (Triad) and non-qualifier Dave Blaney (Triad).

Dodges taken were Sam Hornish (Penske), Brad Keselowski (Penske) and the non-qualifier J.J. Yeley (former Richard Petty Motorsports engines).

Fords taken were Carl Edwards (Roush Yates Engines), Kasey Kahne (Roush Yates) and Patrick Carpentier (Roush Yates).
