Sprint today announced that for the second consecutive year, its customers will receive exclusive access to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race driver/crew chief meeting. Utilizing Sprint technology, fans can listen live to the pre-race meeting between NASCAR officials, drivers and crew chiefs prior to the running of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday, May 22 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.

The audio will be streamed exclusively on Sprint devices via NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile for customers everywhere. Fans attending the race can also listen in on the Sprint FanView device. NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile will archive the audio for repeat listening through the following week.

“NASCAR fans crave inside access to the sport, and it doesn’t get much more ‘inside’ than the driver/crew chief meeting,” said Steve Gaffney, vice president of Corporate Marketing for Sprint. “After introducing this innovation last year, Sprint received such positive feedback from customers, we knew we had to bring it back for 2010. Sprint is thrilled to use our technology to give fans a closer look at the inner workings of this amazing sport.”

Attendance is mandatory at this meeting for all drivers and crew chiefs competing in a given NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event. If a driver and/or crew chief is late or does not attend the meeting, their team is forced to start at the rear of the entry field, regardless of qualifying position.

Sprint customers with data plans will also have access to a number of NASCAR on SPEED broadcasts during All-Star week via NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile. In addition to coverage of the May 19 Sprint Pit Crew Challenge event, All-Star practice sessions and qualifying, and SPEED shows like Trackside, RaceDay and NASCAR Victory Lane, fans will be able to view the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race in its entirety on Sprint devices.

“A lot of the media and fans have said the final 10 laps of last year’s Sprint All-Star Race were some of the most exciting racing of the season,” Gaffney said. “Thanks to our great partners at SPEED, Sprint customers will be able to see every lap of this year’s no holds-barred race, no matter their location. Using the NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile application, our customers won’t miss a second of the action.”

NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile users can choose to view SPEED’S live coverage, or select from additional camera angles, including in-car camera views and “Battle Cam,” which will focus on drivers competing for positions throughout the All-Star field.

Revamped for 2010, NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile, an exclusive wireless phone application from Sprint, will also offer SPEED’S broadcast of the NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge on May 19. In addition to these special All-Star related broadcasts, fans using NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile have instant access to LIVE driver in-car audio, radio broadcasts, driver stats, breaking news and post-race press conferences.
