Persistent showers finally forced NASCAR to cancel Sprint Cup practice Friday at Martinsville Speedway.
NASCAR called it a day around 4 p.m. (ET) after wrestling with rain that forced jet driers off the track several times. Practice had been scheduled at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.
A practice session was added to Saturday’s schedule. It will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m., weather permitting. Saturday’s morning forecast is not promising.
Qualifying for Sunday’s Tums Fast Relief 500 is scheduled at noon Saturday, following scheduled Camping World Truck Series time trials at 10:30 a.m.
Sprint Cup practice will take precedence over qualifying if weather becomes a factor Saturday.
