Martin Truex Jr. led the final round of practice Friday afternoon for Sunday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Truex Jr. had a fast lap of 139.481 miles per hour in the 90-minute session.

Rounding out the top five were Truex Jr.’s Michael Waltrip Racing teammate Clint Bowyer, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon.

Tony Stewart led the day’s first practice. He was 23rd in the second.

Daytona 500 winner Matt Kenseth smacked the wall early in the second session, leading his team to go to a backup car. Ryan Newman had the same problem in the first practice.

Qualifying for Sunday’s race is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. (ET) Saturday. SPEED will televise the session.
