While Martin Truex Jr. posted the fastest lap in the opening practice Friday for Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, championship contender Brad Keselowski made some noise with a fast lap of his own.

Truex Jr. ran 190.745 miles per hour to top the 90-minute practice session, leading Michael Waltrip Racing teammate Mark Martin, who ran 190.449.

Keselowski, who trails Jimmie Johnson by two points entering the weekend, was third at 190.121. Keselowski was the only other driver to cross the 190 barrier in the session.

One spot behind Keselowski was Clint Bowyer, who is third in the point standings, 26 behind Johnson.

Johnson lagged in the session, logging the afternoon’s 27th fastest speed.

Following Bowyer in the top 10 were Tony Stewart, Aric Almirola, Matt Kenseth, Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle.

Sprint Cup qualifying is scheduled this afternoon at 4:40 (ET).
